Aftercare

Aftercare protocol:

After your tattoo session it is your responsibility to take proper care of your fresh tattoo work while it heals to avoid any unwanted complications.

Your tattoo was created using "one time use" products in a clean environment by a professional tattoo artist so there is no way of picking up an infection from your tattoo session but if you do not take proper care of your new tattoo work once you leave the studio then infections can happen.

To avoid this please follow the instructions below stringently.

Firstly, what your tattoo was covered with when you left the studio will determine what to do next.

AloeTattoo film gel:

You can leave this product on overnight and shower it off the next morning.

Second skin:

This can be left on for up to 3 days after your session depending on how much the tattoo underneath is leaking. So long as you can still clearly make out the tattoo underneath the "second skin" can be kept on but as soon as the tattoo below blurs or there is any fluid under it then you should take it off immediately and clean your tattoo.

Cling film:

This should be taken off as soon as you get home and you should clean your tattoo immediately.

If you have a large area of heavy coverage you may apply more cling film before bed for the first couple of nights but always take it straight off in the morning and clean your tattoo.

Aftercare cream:

You can leave this on until it absorbs.

Clean and reapply before going to bed.

In the morning after your tattoo session (or once you remove the second skin) take a shower and gently lather up your tattoo with your usual shower gel or soap (natural products are always recommended).

Do not blast your fresh tattoo directly with the shower head but let the water run off another part of your body over the tattooed area gently washing off the lather.

Dab your tattoo with a clean towel to remove the majority of water and then let the area air dry for some time while you get ready.

Once clean and dry make sure your hands are still clean and apply a very thin layer of natural body butter, natural oil or proper tattoo aftercare cream to the tattooed area.

We recommend buying a packet of "water wipes" from the supermarket. They are biodegradable wet wipes in a white and blue/green pack that contain only water and a tiny amount of citrus.

Half way through the day use the "water wipes" or some soap and water to gently clean off any left over aftercare cream from the morning and let your tattoo air dry, once dry apply another very thin layer of your chosen aftercare cream to the tattooed area.

Repeat the previous step once again before bed.

Repeat the whole process every day for at very least one week.

ALWAYS WASH OR WET WIPE YOUR HANDS BEFORE APPLYING A NEW LAYER OF AFTERCARE CREAM!

DO NOT SUFFOCATE YOUR TATTOO WITH THICK LAYERS OF AFTERCARE CREAM!

If you have pets then you are at high risk of infection if you do not keep your animals away from your freshly tattooed skin. Pet hair and saliva should not come into contact at all with the tattooed area until it is fully healed.

DO NOT SLEEP WITH YOUR PETS WHILE YOUR TATTOO IS HEALING!

Keep your freshly tattooed skin out of direct sunlight for prolonged periods and do not use electric sun beds for at least a month after your session.

Do not go swimming or soak in a bath until your tattoo is healed.

Avoid saunas and steam rooms while your tattoo is healing.

If for whatever reason you do manage to get yourself an infection then stop applying aftercare cream to the infected area immediately and wash the area regularly with warm salt water throughout the day.

You can apply colloidal silver or pure lavender essential oil directly to the infected area and you can also paint it with iodine to kill off the infection.

If you are in severe pain or are at any point worried then please do not hesitate to visit your doctor.

If you adhere to this advice properly then you will not have any problems so please take responsibility.

Cleanliness is next to Godliness.
